27th of June 2019 I started a fictional brand and coffee shop in a school assignment. I decided to call it: Unic Coffee. “Unic” is the combination of the words “unique” and “unicorn”. I created a fluffly, cute, lil unicorn as the logo.
This fictional coffee shop makes high quality and amazing tasting coffee, that’s made with freshly ground coffee beans and prepared with high quality by amazing coffee makers. Unic Coffee serves both cold and warm drinks. There’s a wide range of food, cake and drink options on the menu and you can either enjoy your order in the house of have it to go, as you please.
Unicorns are very well known for creating rainbows and glitter (yes they do throw up – and poop rainbows, glitter and everything nice so it is not supposed to be gross). The rainbows and everything nice, it a metaphor of the ingredients in the drinks. Therefore it is part of the brand, that it has to make you feel like you’re drinking rainbows sparkles and everything nice. All these things are associated with happiness, which is the effect you get from drinking coffee. The unicorn flexing it’s bicep, the magic, the strong energy, the good vibes, and motivation is all connected to the brand which all leads back to the logo and its metaphor for how coffee makes you feel. Unic Coffee helps you go through tough mondays and will lighten up your mood a little bit.
The target group is basically for everyone who enjoys hot chocolate, coffee or other variety of drinks. The brand is supposed to attract young alternative people from 16-29 years old. It’s for people to have a safe space, creative and peaceful environment for them to study or to just have a good time with their friends. I want to target people who aren’t afraid to stick out.

I really love coffee shops. I think they’re so hyggelige and I’ve actually always liked going to coffee shops alone. There’s something so peaceful and self validating about it.
I’ve always had a really hard time focusing and finding motivation to be productive. It’s especially difficult for me to concentrate when I work or study while I’m at home. Sometimes I just need another place to be, to find the motivation and inspiration. Structure is extremely important for me so I really need to separate home and work to be productive. Otherwise it doesn’t really work out for me. I know it may sound weird, but that’s just how my brain works. I get really easily distracted and have no motivation at all. When I work outside from home, I find it way easier to focus. That’s why I like going to coffee shops. I’ll enjoy a cup of coffee, a piece of cake or whatever I feel like eating/drinking, while I work on my laptop. The thing is, that working while sitting in a different environment than home, motivates me. Maybe it has something to do with the energy in a room. Coffee shop are nice and cozy. That gives me motivation to be productive. Other times I just go there to just treat myself and not necessarily to work or study. Or some times, I’m just on a road and stop by because I need something nice to drink or eat. So I just take a break and sit there for a while, while I’m just enjoying life. It’s the small things right?
Another thing is, I just can’t work or be productive without a cup of coffee on the desk. No matter where I am working. The cup of coffee is a necessity. Even if I don’t drink it. It just have to be there. It’s some sort of motivation factor for me. I’m not even joking, because it’s like my brain just don’t want to work without a cup of coffee beside me on the desk. It don’t even always have to be coffee with caffeine every time. I just need that cup of coffee. It’s like, it’s a part of my structure. When I said that structure is important. for me, I really meant it.
Also I’m kind of obsessed with coffee cups. They’re awesome. Here’s my collection, in case you’re interested. I just like how they give personality, to your desk. To be honest, buying coffee to go, isn’t always about the drink for me. It’s also the aesthetic. There’s something aesthetically pleasing about it. I have this sort of vision in my head of a mysterious busy woman
in a big city, walking with her go-to-coffee, while looking hella badass and fashionable. It must be all the chicken flicks movies. That’s what they do to you.
So obviously I needed to make a logo for a coffee shop.
And that resulted into a unicorn logo, because at that time it used to be some kind of trend on the internet. There was a lot of unicorn memes and unicorn cakes on the internet. The internet is weird man. Anyways, if you’ve come this far, thank you man. I know it’s just a portfolio but a witch got a lot going on in her mind.
