the robot project

Concept:

For my 1st year exam, we were introduced to the play ‘The Robot Project’ which is still in the making by ‘Flyvende Grise’ and ‘Stages of Science’. The two companies works with theater plays and entertainments in unconventional ways by interacting with their audience and making social experiments. The audience is let to reflect and also be part of the play.

In the play, the robot discovers its own self-awareness. It discovers, learns and keeps developing till it’s even capable of things humans would never be able to do. I wanted to visualize the robot mirroring itself to the human, as well as showing how the human, in some way, is a father/God to the robot. Among other things, through my illustration with the robot standing and mirroring itself with its creator. (coming on the portfolio soon). The robot has a curious look on his face, that relates to humans, our own curiousity and purpose of our lives.

thoughts

I’m not really proud of the results of how the animation turned out. I was really motivated and excited to show my vision of this project. Unfortunately it didn’t go as I was hoping it would, because of too high expectations that didn’t get along with the deadline. But I learned a lot and it was a truly challenging proces. I really hope that I can learn more about character animation and frame by frame movements, in the future, as it is a big dream of mine.
