migration museum

Concept:

In a previous school project, I made a storytelling video about the subject migration and chose to share a story about coming to Denmark. In continuation of the precious project about migration, I had to design the interface for an online museum that through immersive user interface, disseminates and links to different stories about migration. The animations in the picture frames are migration stories produced by other people from my class – I placed their videos to show what it would look like, when you click and navigate around the website.

This school project required that the museum interface had to communicate stories about migration, in a presence, sensuousness and personal way, for young people to explore, and also having the opportunity to share your own story about migration. Therefore I wanted to create an interface design that is eventful, but at the same time is something that the target group is interested in exploring. I wanted to make them be able to experience a website that’s educative but also make them feel like they’re playing a game. A digital museum where they can sense, explore and discover without any boundary lines, because of the playful way, the website is designed. The digital museum is supposed to give them insights and wake their curiosity to watch the migration stories on the website. The end goal is to make them reflect and make them feel more educated after visiting the website.

thoughts

This is the first time I have worked with 3D. I am not very experienced with 3D yet, but I definitely want to try it out more in the future! When I first was introduced to the assignment, I immediately had this this vision in my head, of this digital and explorative 3-dimensional museum. I was very inspired by the computer games I used to play when I was a kid. Being on this museum interface design on a screen and nothing compared to the real life thing, I really wanted to make it as sensuousness and eventful as possible. So I just had to make it in 3D. Even though it was a risk to take. When you only have 3 weeks to finish the product, designing it, getting inspiration, sketching and developing the overall idea – and at the same time having to learn to build it in 3D, with zero experience, you also kinda want to kill yourself a couple of times during the proces. Especially when you were only a few hours late for the deadline to present it in front of the class, because of the rendering that didn’t allow me to make it in time. But it’s a risk worth taking.

this is fine
